Thane Swigart wrote the adaptation of David Guterson’s best-selling novel EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS, starring Tom Skerritt and Mira Sorvino.
Simon Abrams at RogerEbert.com said of it, “Tom Skerritt's low-key warmth gives director S.J. Chiro and screenwriter Thane Swigart a charming, nuanced performance that's worthy of their considerate and moving adaptation.”
Swigart created and wrote the pilot for series THE MYSTIC currently set up at Reality Distortion Field with Executive Producer Simon Barry (WARRIOR NUN, CONTINUUM). He created and wrote the pilot for series RED BORN for producer Jonathan Krauss.
His feature projects include the supernatural thriller FURIOUS ANGEL with De Laurentiis Pictures, and political thriller NEVER AGAIN, an adaptation of award-winning journalist/author Lawrence Weschler’s NYT series about uncovering secret ^iles of human rights abuses during the 1960s military government in Brazil, produced by Double Nickel Entertainment’s Jenette Kahn and Adam Richman (GRAN TORINO).
Swigart holds a degree in Anthropology from UCLA and is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society.

East of the Mountain
Based on the best-selling novel by David Guterson, when retired heart surgeon Ben Givens learns that he has terminal cancer, he takes his beloved dog back to his boyhood home in Eastern Washington, determined to end his life on his own terms.
Ben's journey, though, takes an unexpected turn, and soon becomes an adventure against which he pits himself with characteristic stoicism, wit, and determination.
